Hey, friends first of all Happy New Year! New year, new plans, new goals, and most of all a new day. I know keeping a New Year’s Resolution can be tricky and I’m not a resolution maker, but I am a Goal Setter. Goals are dreams you set actions too. I’m sharing with you some successful tips to make your life a few steps closer to being Radiant.

Step 1:

Make sure we are in prayer about our plans and goals – without God, in our plans, they will not succeed.

In their hearts, humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.

I’ve put together a couple fillable PDFs to make your life more organized and to help you stay focused all year on your goals and the actions you are going to take to achieve those goals with success.

Step 2:

It’s important to really set a priority to your goals. Ask yourself what’s the most important goal you have? What’s is urgent for you to accomplish?

Step 3:

What is your goal? Loose weight? Read more? Be on time? Serve others? Get more involved with your kids? I’ve given you 12 spaces to write a goal (one more each month) you can use all of the spaces or not. Make sure your goals are doable. You need to be successful.

Step 4 :

Why? Without the reason, purpose and feeling behind that goal, you’ve already set yourself for failure. Be specific in your why as well, you will need that 3 months down the road. For example, your goal might be to drop 10 pounds your why could be … to be healthier for my family, feel better about myself, and so I don’t have to buy bigger clothes. Really deep deal into your why.

Step 5:

Set a due date!!! This is hugely important there needs to be a deadline without its human nature to just put it on the back burner. Another tip for success on this is to put in your calendar with reminders. Digital calendars are a super tool for this. Step 6:

When you’ve accomplished your goal – reward yourself and CHECK IT OFF!

It’s all well and good to have goals, but the rubber meets the road when you put steps into action to accomplish that goal. I’ve created an Action plan for you to print off or fill out from your computer. Just download here.

Step 7:

Pick out 2 goals to work on each week, you can do more, however; be realistic on what you can actually accomplish and follow through on.

Step 8: 

Action – Come up with 2 or 3 actions that will help you towards your goal this week maybe your goal is to be on time. An action you could do is change your clock to be 5 minutes fast in your house. Set alarm reminders 20 minutes before you have to leave or keep your shoes by the door. Whatever you feel you can do to make the goals happen.

Step 9:

Take it to evaluate your actions at the end of the week. Positive reinforcement of your actions will really help you be more successful each week, especially in habit-forming goals such as being on time, losing weight, etc

Step 10:

Don’t give up. Keep going to God in prayer. Some of your goals might change through the year and that’s ok as longs as you are going to God on those and you are striving to move forward in life.

Growing in the Lord is the most important goal any of us can have, so just be sure you are in God’s will and what you are doing is honor Him. Have a blessed year!
