Part of the purpose of Life Made Radiant is to share how God is working in people’s lives. God doesn’t give up on us – he continues to transform us. The amazing thing about God is He truly wants us to be closer to Him. I find that shocking, radical, jaw-dropping: the God of the universe of Abraham, Issac, Jacob, Matthew, Paul, Ruth, David, Esther …. and me?! Hard as it is to understand, that’s what I must trust and believe. I started a new book called Destined to Win by Kris Vallotton, and my mind and heart were blown by a single verse:
Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.
Ephesians 3:17 NLT
I don’t trust easily. The biggest problem I have is I don’t trust God that loves me. I am I learning that’s not humility which I thought it was, but rather is shame. The thoughts of “I’m not worthy of God’s love.” I’m not smart enough, pretty enough, strong enough, sinful enough, righteous enough, faithful enough….I’m NOT ENOUGH. Not enough is a LIE. That’s the whole point, right!? We aren’t enough. That’s why Jesus died on the cross for our sins. We aren’t enough, but God loves us despite all that so, He made a way for us to be enough through the blood of Christ! (Pause as I am typing this as fast as my heart is coming up with these words my soul is being spoken to and it is soaring.)
Back to this verse –
- Step 1 We trust Jesus.
- Step 2 He makes his home in our hearts.
- Step 3 We become rooted in God’s love
- Step 4 God’s love keeps us strong.
That’s where the conversation started with God last night.
He says “trust me?!” I say, “yes”.
He says “I love you”. I cry.
He says “I love you.” My heart breaks.
It allows Christ to expand his home in my heart. God says “I love you” and I feel a strong love and feeling like never before and it caused me to trust him more. The cycle repeats. I honestly don’t think this is a conversation with God that has an ending just has His love had no end.
Confession “I love you, God. I TRUST you, God. Build a mansion in my heart. Let me be rooted in Your love.”
And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Ephesians 3:18-19 NLT
